The image on this blog is a book I have in my library. It is written for kids explaining what life would be like with no rules. This book describes what life is like today – for real.
I like to think of myself as an educated and informed person. When someone tells me an interesting fact I still research it and make sure it’s true. I raised my kids to always ask questions: just because a teacher teaches an idea that doesn’t make it true. Even when the pastor preached a message from the pulpit I taught them to read the Bible for themselves and validate that his words were truth.
The world is falling into chaos around us even as I’m writing this blog – what once was right is now wrong and what was wrong is now right. I find myself refusing to watch the news, refusing to open my social media, refusing to have political conversations with my friends. I no longer want to be informed. I am having a difficult time finding truth amidst the chaos.
While reading my Bible one morning I came across Matthew 24.
“And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.” Matthew 24:6-8 NLT
This is where I found truth. These words from Jesus reminded me not to panic. It explained that these things will happen and there will be more crazy chaotic things to come. And the truth is that God is in control. He warned us of these things over 2000 years ago. I can find order in all this nonsense as I trust God in these days and years ahead.
“I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass from the scene until all these things take place.”
Matthew 24:34 NLT
